Being in the house of God conscious depicts only occasionally being in the presence of God.
Being in the word of God conscious on the other hand depicts a continuous being in the presence of God without breaks.
I've ways told people that if I'm asked to choose just a single word out of the dictionary, the word consciousness would be the word, for the obvious reason that, no matter what we seem to know and believe, if we are not conscious of it, it would almost be as if we didn't know or we never knew.
I want to believe that one of the greatest desires of a Christian should be to always continuously be in the presence of God. If for no better reason, it would be for the sole reason as stated in
2 Corinthians 3:17b "and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." And also in
Psalms 97:5a "The hills melted like wax at the presence of the LORD"
Psalms 16:11b "in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand, there are pleasures for evermore."
Recall the time God asked Moses to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt and to a promised land that he would show him. At mount Horeb, in the Tabernacle, God was having a conversation with Moses to continue his journey and God said to Moses in
Exodus 33:14 "My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest." And Moses responding to God said in the next verse of the same book
Exodus 33:15 "And he said unto him, If thy presence goes not with me, carry us not up hence." Moses, like every other Christian, knows the importance of the presence of God by and around him.
David says in Psalms 51:11 "Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me."
One of the times a man hides from the presence of the lord is in
Genesis 3:8 "And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden."
Adam and Eve seemed and felt different and for that reason, the only thing that came to their minds as they heard God's footsteps walking was to hide themselves.
I believe that what differentiated the Christian from other people is the presence of the Holy Spirit in the life of the Christian. Other than that, a Christian is also just a mere man.
At old, the Spirit of God comes and goes on his children. After when Jesus Christ died, resurrected and ascended, the Holy Spirit that carries the presence of God now dwells in, around and upon any person who believes and confesses him as his Lord and Saviour. When the person said, "come into my heart" the Holy Spirit brought the presence of the Lord into that person. Our consciousness of His presence in our lives will determine the effectiveness of His working in our lives.
However, how we say this verse of the Bible below as Christians most times reveals what we are more conscious of. Whether we are more conscious of the house of God in our lives or whether we are more conscious of the Word of God in our lives. Here is the verse.
Psalms 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
The Implication Of Being In The House Of God Conscious.
Christians who are in the house of God conscious first of all are trying to unconsciously imply that it is only in the Church that the presence of God exists and when you are going to Church, you are going into the presence of God so, therefore, you must appear in a certain way.
The implication here is that, if this category of Christians is unconsciously implying that God only exists in Church then they are also unconsciously implying that God is not existing in other places like their homes or on the roads.
These are the category of Christians who have placed a must as to how they must appear when going into the presence (house) of God.
I will explain, here, I'm not referring to decency or indecent dressing as the case may be. Let's take, for instance, those Christians who must tie their hair or completely cover their head before going to Church.
If when going into the presence of God, you must tie your hair or completely cover your head, this means that anytime you are not tying your hair or completely covering your head, you are indirectly telling God that, God I'm not in your presence that's why I didn't cover my heard or God, your presence is not here that's why I didn't cover my head.
This also means that whenever you are not in the presence of God, God's protection over your life is not there. Meaning, all the benefits Christian enjoy in the presence of God, you will not enjoy because you are not in His Presence.
This would mean that, on the road, an accident can happen to you simply because you've become a mere person for not covering your head. How about in your house, anything tragic can happen to you because your head is not covered. How about when you sleep? Do you cover your head every time? The answer is no. So on that note, you've declared yourself to be out of God's presence and therefore, the powers of darkness can have dominion over you in your sleep.
I've always told people that, if there is a thing I'm required to must do before I should enter the house (presence) of God, then that is a thing I will do without a break because I always want to be in the presence of God. For example, if wearing caps in Church for men is prohibited, then at no point in my life shall anyone see me wear a cap. This means also that I will not even join groups or organisations that would require me to wear a cap as I will never want to be out of God's presence, not even for a second.
Let's not forget that in the presence of the Lord, there's protection. Meaning, outside the presence of the Lord, protection is not guaranteed. What kind of Christian wants to be in the presence of the Lord sometimes and not be in the presence of the lord sometimes?
The Implication Of Being In The Word Of God Conscious.
The Bible at some point even says in Matthew 18:20 "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them."
The above verse of the Bible is not even the point. The point is what Matthew 28:20b "and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen."
Some translations say, "I will be with you always"
When we are conscious that God is with us always, we cannot say we are going into the presence of God so We have to appear in a particular way. We know that he's with us always, in the show when you are completely without clothes, in the bedroom when you are not covering your head, in the seating room when you wear only scanty clothes, on the road and so on.
I know we have a responsibility to not make or help others sin with anything we do like as the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 8:9 "But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak." The emphasis is more on the consciousness of our relationship with God. Our consciousness should be on the fact that he is with us always and if He is with us always, we shouldn't feel that there are times we stroll out of the presence of God and there are times we stroll into the presence of God.
Christians who are conscious that he is with us always are Christians who are conscious that we dwell in his presence always. These are also Christians who are conscious that He lives in us, He lives through us and these are Christians who consciously recite the verse of the Bible of the book of Psalms 23:6 as "Surely goodness and mercy follow me all the days of my life: and I shall dwell in the Word of the LORD forever and ever.
Imagine travelling in a bus, a lady got up to pray, she covers her uncovered head and prayed. After prayer, she uncovered her head again. To me, she had declared that God I want to talk with you, come. And then when she was done, she discharged God because of the consciousness of covering and uncovering her head.
Anything I cannot or shouldn't wear to the house of God, I shouldn't wear anywhere too because I believe that I'm in the presence of God 247, 365 or as the case may be.
