Happy Father's Day To My Father

By   Costly Oma .  Father's Poem , rewritten for 2022 Father's Day. 1. A role you are given. A role you didn't ask for, Yet you accepted, And have learned to understand.  You are my Father.  2. Like a purpose, You stay loyal to its aim. Like a vision, You stay married to its picture.  You are my Father. 3. Characterized by strength, are you. Categorized by direction, you are. Geared to provide. Wired to protect.  You are my Father.  4. You carry a burden, Burden unknown to my Mother, Burden unknown to us your children, Burden unknown to your family.  You are my Father. 5. The strength of the home. The defense of the family.  You cry sometimes, Oh, yes you do, But not in the open.  You are my Father.  6. Children misconcepts you, Misconcepts your nature, Nature of care and provision, And we ascribe everything to our mothers. Lost are we without a father.  7. I love you, dad, I don't misconcept you, Thank you for your seamless, S...

How Society Is Continuously Killing Good Character

Someone says society can only be the society. As true as that may be, I can’t stop wondering what it implies that it truly meant. Does it mean that society is designed to naturally destroy itself? Or is it that, society is designed in such a way that things can never get better? Honesty, I think that society cannot be designed that way. We have people with the Character of a good leader but society will not let them take up political offices. They possess all the character of a good leader but society denies them the grand opportunities. Some people say the society and the activities of the society keep going in circles. Fashions of years past always have a way of resurfacing and therefore, the deteriorating nature of the society will always get somewhat better and still get bad again. The question now is, don’t we have enough sense as humans to make the world a better place? Are we supposed to be controlled by the systems of the world or we are supposed to control the system that cont...

Are There Good Men Still

We often ask, “do good men still exist?” “Do we still have good men?” “Are there still good men?” With the openings around the world and the trend of things in our society today, most of us have been made to say that “There are no good men in the world.” It is hard to believe though but it is true that, most of the people who say there are no good people in the world somehow still hope to meet a good person someday.  The truth is, there are good men still and there are good women still. Most of us just only keep going to the wrong places and hope to find good men there. And most times, when a girl meets a good man, she would complain as to why he is not going to all those places that good men hardly go to.  There are places good men cannot go or rather hardly go to, and so there are places you can hardly find good men. When you want to catch fish, you go to the river right? Or swamp or lake. You get the picture. When you want to catch animals for meat, you go into the forest. ...

My Journey To Becoming A Counsellor

Article Content: Use the content below if you find the article lengthy. Growing Up as A Kid A Phase Shift The Uncommon Decision At The Counsellor’s Office Meeting The Counsellor My Day Of Counsel The First Day I Gave Counsel My Conversation with Counsellor Ejike Growing Up as A Kid  The circumstances surrounding my growing up triggered the introverted part of me to be more dominant in the early years of my life. I was so calm and quiet up to the extent that the words I say in a day, could be counted if anyone wanted to. Greetings were one of the only things that do part my lips to speak at any time I walk past someone or meet someone, if there had not been greetings, my mouth would not have opened at all most days. I remember a certain time even as I was a bit grown, I should be about fifteen years of age or there about, I made a whopping eight hours Journey without saying a word or even responding to sounds on the road. Two women were seated next to me...

What I Think About Welcome To The Month Of and Welcome To The Year Of Things By The Christian Family

I honestly don't exactly know what to call this thing or statement that Church folks use on themselves, welcoming themselves into a new month or a new year. This thing that Church folks do use to baffle me. There are a few things that Church folks do that baffle me and this happens to be one of them. It has now become a norm for Churches to have years of things and months of things, every year and every month. Just in case you didn’t know, now you know.  Almost every Church must have a year of something and a month of something every year and every month. For example, a church might have; The Year 2040: To be "The Year of Progress" and also, the month of let’s say February of that same year to be "The Month of Favour". What always baffles me is seeing two fellow members of this same church, one saying to the other, welcome to the Month of Favour; in the case of the month or welcome to the Year of Progress; in the case of the year. I always use to ask the one say...
