My Death Encounter – Part 3.
~~ On The Road ~~

At the bus stop, I boarded a tricycle, commonly known as Keke Napep. In about three kilometres into the journey, the tricycle developed a strange sound and stopped working. I was the only one on this tricycle. As a result of the fault developed by this tricycle, it was obvious that the tricycle may not start anytime soon so I had to get down from it to board another one.
I stepped down from the tricycle, moved some distance away from it and start waving for other tricycles going in my direction. In no distant time, one tricycle stopped for me to hop in and I boarded. A few minutes into the journey, I observed that this driver was driving like a confused man.
In the Tricycle was the driver at the front, the driver’s seat, an elderly man and me at the back. I was seated at the right-hand side of the elderly man, so the elderly man was seated at my left-hand side.
When I observed that this driver was somehow driving like a confused man, I had to caution him to put his mind into his driving. I then started by telling him that driving is making decisions beforehand, being proactive and calculating metres and miles away before you get to the place where you may have to manoeuvre. That his mind should be one on any decision he has decided to take as to what and how he wants to drive. That he shouldn’t be double-minded, as driving like you are double-minded, that is, like you are still indecisive of what next you really want to do on the road, may confuse other drivers and the unsprayed for might just happen as a result and at this point, we were right on the express.
His hands became steady again after I said what I said, and the journey continued. About 6 kilometres into the journey, we spotted a Road Safety Road Block in front. This was on Thursday 15th of March 2018. As soon as this driver spotted this Road Safety Road Block, his driving pattern changed to how it was before and even worse. Like he wants to park and like he wants to continue.
As that was happening, I cautioned him again, telling him, he should park if he wants to and stop being so indecisive. As I was yet talking, I heard a car tyre scritch from behind the tricycle I was in. I tried looking out through the side the elderly man was seated and I saw an ash colour Toyota. I can’t really make anything out of the model and then I heard bam! a clash.
The Toyota had hit the tricycle I was in. The hit took place at the side of the elderly man. The effect of the hit at the side of the elderly man made him bounce towards me and since I was caught unguarded, the effect of the elderly man hit me, threw me out of the tricycle. The last thing I knew for a period was my body hitting on the Asphalt concrete road.
Before the hit, the Road Safety Roadblock can be said to be about 500 metres away from us and there was no U-turn at that particular area by the express, except at the roundabout that was like about 1 kilometre away from where their Road Block was.
I start being aware of where I am by the sound from female voices sounding from afar like they were quarrelling Road Safety officers saying, he is moving, he is moving, you people should take him to the hospital, if not for your Road Block here, this accident would not have happened, you guys are the cause of this accident, you guys are the cause of this accident.
As that was going on, I became fully aware and saw my body lying by the sidewalk of the road bleeding by my face, hands, knees and feet. I wanted to get up but I couldn’t and as if the quarrel just increased, these girls standing by me were saying none stop; see this fine boy, you people want to just leave him here to die? If he dies here, you people will not go anywhere too, you people must die right here also.
When I raised my face up a bit to try to see, the first and only person I saw and could recognise was one close friend of mine, in his car, driving past. He didn’t know I was the one lying down there by the road helpless, halfway to somewhere I couldn’t tell for sure.
At this point, I saw one of the road safety Hilux vehicles parked by me, meaning I was aware the whole time that the road safety officers did about the 1.5 kilometres turn around to get to where I was. They had no option but to take me to the hospital. When they carried me into their vehicle, one of the girls told another girl to accompany me in the vehicle so that if anything happens to me, they will deal with the other Road safety officers there but somehow, the Officers didn’t let the girl follow me in the vehicle and we moved towards one hospital that was close by with me bleeding and couldn’t feel most of me.
